How does the teeth whitening process work?

Tooth whitening is a safe chemical reaction that occurs deep in your teeth’s enamel using special reagents (usually carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide) to set off an oxidation reaction. The organic deposits responsible for the staining are gently broken up and washed away.

Using precision fitted whitening trays is very important to ensure consistent results. Since these trays are made to fit the unique contours of your teeth exactly, the active ingredients in the gel are held in close contact with all surfaces of your teeth. The teeth are immersed in flowable gel capable of contacting the full facial surface, the spaces between the teeth, and even the back surface of the teeth. This is important to ensure uniform translucency of the teeth thus enhancing the way light travels through the teeth.

Whitening trays are worn for between 15min-3hour/day depending you comfort. Part of the beauty of this system is the ability to control any sensitivity that may occur. If you begin to experience some sensitivity in your teeth, simply reduce the time of application sessions accordingly. If your teeth are often sensitive to hot and cold, start out with 15 min application sessions gradually adding and additional 15 min to each consecutive application. By doing so you will reduce or eliminate sensitivity or discomfort.

You can also control the level of whiteness achieved. Once you are satisfied with the shade of your teeth, simply stop the applications. Use the remaining gel for monthly touch-up applications. It is important to maintain your new beautiful smile!

How does the tooth whitening gel work?

The whitening gel removes stains with a gentle oxidizing action that whitens your teeth. The active ingredient in the gel (carbamide peroxide) is broken down and acts upon the stained organic deposits, oxidizing them to a whiter color. Our full cure bleaching gel is formulated in concentrations of 22% & 35%. This process makes the overall tooth color closer to its natural unstained color. Your tooth structure remains unchanged.

What is a tooth whitening tray and how does it work?

It is a comfortable appliance that is designed to hold the whitening gel in place over your teeth.  Our trays are custom made to fit your teeth precisely to ensure maximum results. Our dental lab technicians carefully insert spacers on the molds of your teeth before fabricating the custom home tooth whitening trays, this leaves a 1mm reservoir to uniformly hold the gel in contact with your teeth. The trays are then carefully trimmed to protect your gingiva (gums) from the gel.

This helps to protect your from sensitivity, ensures consistent results and preserves expensive whitening gel. Many of our competitors neglect this important aspect making our trays and treatment delivery superior to most on the market. Our custom fitted trays are very thin, clear and made to fit your teeth exactly.
